HOW DID YOU GET INTO DISC GOLF?
"Disc golf was something I had not really looked into, but it seemed like almost every park I went to I would see the baskets scattered around. Over the past couple years I had thought about going to try it out, but wasn't really sure where to start.
At the end of July 2022 one of my wife's coworkers, Chris Jensen, reached out to me about a tournament at Heritage Park DGC in Belton, TX that weekend. I let him know I had never played before, but I had some experience with Ultimate Frisbee. He put a bag together for me with a variety of discs to try out, and we went out to Purser Park in Harker Heights, TX and played a round. The next day was the tournament, and of course I did not win, but I definitely had fun. I had a feeling disc golf was something I could really get into and enjoy, so I went out and purchased my own bag and set of discs. With so many options out there I ended up going with Mint Discs because they are local to the Austin area, and the sales rep had talked them up a little.
I try to get out a couple times a week to play (although I could play everyday if possible), and have met some pretty cool people along the way. I am still new to the game, but hope to grow my experience and skill enough to play and compete with some of the pro level players. One day maybe!"
